I'm a Slumber Parties consultant in the DMV area (local to Manassas, but willing to drive :) ) and I'm looking to fill up my June calendar! This month I'm offering an opportunity for an extra $100 in free product to anyone that books and holds a party for the month of June! Ladies 18 and older, this is a really great opportunity for a free shopping spree and to get your girlfriends together for a girls night in. Call/text, email (spbyandrea [at] gmail [dot] com), or message me for details!

11:13 pm - Northern Virginia/DC Education related jobs for someone with a BA

fushigi_na_chou
So I currently work at a behavioral healthcare facility, and will begin graduate classes at George Mason this summer; my hope is to get my degree in school counseling. In the meantime, I'm looking to get my foot in the door in education, though I don't necessarily want to teach (though I am open to substituting if necessary). I'm looking for any feedback from people who already work in education, either primary, secondary, college level, whatever. I've been doing a lot of searching online, and it looks like I'd mostly be qualified for some college admissions related jobs. Ideally, I'm looking for anything that's Monday through Friday, 9-5, that pays at least $15/hour, which I know might be asking for a lot. With my degree, I've sort of hit the ceiling on salary in this field (which is why I'm trying to get my Master's). Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Is anyone familiar with the area off of Washington St NE in Leesburg? I'm looking at renting a condo in the area.

Also, is anyone familiar with Glebe House in Alexandria?

Any recommendation for inexpensive housing in a decent area?

7:58 pm - Alexandria, VA
nvcarnie Hola!

My boyfriend just got hired for a job in Alexandria (I moved from the NOVA area a year ago, so I'm familiar with parts of it; although, I don't know much about Alexandria).  If you were just moving to the area, working in downtown Alexandria - what apartment complexes or communities would you look at for affordable housing?

Thanks!

6:16 pm - Re-selling rings...

sexyhockihoochi
I'm looking for a place that will give you a decent price for wedding/engagement rings. There is a receipt from Kay Jewelers, but no certificate proving the authenticity of the diamond in the engagement ring (although we can get this if necessary). Are there any places in NoVA/DC where these can be sold?

Thanks!!

What’s a Grendel Baby?

… an experimental ensemble inspired by the classical, the vaudevillian, swing, and beyond. Expect Grendel Babies to theatrically stir you in their musical narrative pot, with songs drawing from medieval lais, fairy tales, day-to-day (dis)contents, and randomly discovered notes from wronged exes (among other curios).

Once upon a time, in the year of two thousand and eight, on a wine night, in the catacombs of a university, Grendel bore two babies. The babies grew up, Clawing-keys and Screeching-fiddles. What a delight! And then that tragic accident. Poor daddy lost his head.

Determined to explore the otherworld, the babies left the dearest catacomb home behind. You do not do, you do not do, they said. They did not shed a tear. On the road of Vau de Chambre, meeting dragons and fairies, werewolves and vampires, wives and knights, leeks and pears, and good trout, how exciting!
Then two years later, appeared another, Strings-a-wailing, in their image. What a sweet red cap! Who is your father? they asked, despite knowing. Do you follow? So they continued their journey, the three of them now.
One day, this Grendel baby went to the market, this Grendel baby went to the store, this Grendel baby went to New York. On the road appeared another, Banging-drums. Are you a siren? Who is your father? they asked, despite knowing. And they danced.

3:33 pm - Transportation for a wedding

mind_the_tardis
I'm going to be getting married in late August, in DC, and I'm looking for a transportation service to take about 10 people into the city from Manassas and then take us back following a civil ceremony and lunch in town. I'm not wanting anything extravagant—just clean, efficient, professional transportation.

Any recommendations? It looks like it's easy to get burned on transportation services.
